dolphin contact

an amazing thing happened this morning just after sunrise at chepes white hole.

a small pod of whitesided spinner dolphins swam up into the shallow water and started playing in the sea.

that, in itself, was magical.

what happened next was, well, inexplicable.

one of the dolphins started jumping and making clicking noises.  almost as if he was trying to say something meaningful.

we watched for a while, stupified, and simply enjoyed the show.

then, from the back of the crowd, came an old man who said “he’s speaking”.

it turns out the old gentleman was a Navajo indian and this is what he said:

“wol-la-chee…ne-zhoni…gah…yeh-hes…ah-jad…ma-e…a-kha…ne-ahs-jah…dibeh-yazzie…klesh”

he smiled a wistful smile as he walked away.

but not before he turned to me and said “he gave you a name…tkele-cho-g”

i don’t know what it means but i’ll wear it with pride.
