with all the chatter in the states about salmonella in peanut butter i thought that this might be a serious thing.

i mean, who doesn’t like peanut butter?   it was a mainstay of my diet in the navy when the ship ran out of real eggs, milk, and other things too numerous to mention three days into a seven month cruise.

you could say that it not only spread (sorry) a little much needed joy but actually saved my life on more than one occasion.

so it was not without a little trepidation that i decided, upon spying a jar of this tasty concoction on a shelf at bushes supermarket, to do a bit of research of my own.

this intrepid adventurer boldly bought a jar of peter pan peanut butter (with honey) along with a jar of smucker’s blackberry jam and made not one, but two sandwiches jam packed (stop me) with the above ingredients.

pure esculessence!

it’s been thirty minutes now and i’m not sick yet.  physiologically, anyway.

there is the off chance that the salmonella was all killed due to the fact that honey is a natural antibiotic but i’m not ready to cave in to a little folklore just yet.

i’m going with the theory that this peanut butter/salmonella thing is just a piece of dirty tricks fearmongering spread (couldn’t help it) by the dying vegemite industry as a desperate measure to blow a last bit of life into it’s own failing health.

a sticky (help me) situation that could be stopped in it’s tracks with one simple change in lifestyle:

eat bacon.

next week:  bacon vodka; raising the bar by going whole hog.

Peanut butter AND bacon… a match made in heaven only to be rivaled by… rum and fruit punch. The two concoctions together in one sitting? Priceless.
