trailer trash cuisine (a blast from the past)

i love this kind of food.

it bulks you up fast, it tastes good, you get to work close to the flash point of the oil you’re cooking with (adding an extra edge of excitement to the meal) and you can more easily justify buying a honking huge hummer instead of that punk-assed neon your mommy wanted you to buy.

so, jungle, why (you might ask) are we talking about deep fried food when my cholesterol is already through the roof? are you just teasing me or is there a point to all this rambling?

not really; it’s just that we successfully duplicated (several times) beer batter on “da roof” last night and moved one step closer to…well, where ever it is we’re going.

first we tried carnival cuisine (corn dogs) then moved quickly toward chicken tenders (whatever they’re called) and finished with a nice segue to memphis, tennessee with a batch of beer battered dill pickle slices.

mmm, mmm, good!

of course the palate was cleansed with a fresh salva vida after each dish.

(wouldn’t want to skew the results or anything)

some of the comments overheard were:

“hot dayamn, ‘at was gooood!”

and,

“gimme another one o them beers, cletus!”

along with, “hey! get your hand outta there!”

a good time was had by all.

  3. Jungle. I must agree w/ Utl girl, that fried pickeles are a devine pleasure in any world. However,my fella rival (OU vs. TX) you should get back to some old standards…okara beer dunk’d Johny’s choc. cake, and uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Come on my dear fried I’m stuck here until this “structure” moves!!

  4. It seems such a waste to put the beer in the batter!!! Sounds tasty though!!

  5. i agree, tom, however, i find that as long as you drink more than you mix in, it becomes less of an issue.

    and it is tasty!
